Week 5 inRoom 13

We have had such a busy week this week, my apologies for no notices on the Blog.  We have been talking a lot about Lent and the events that lead up to Jesus death.  Please continue these talks at home with your children.  They are really interested in the stories and the things that happened both before and after Jesus death on the cross.  This week we have written Lenten promises, talked about the burning of those promises, attended a Promise Liturgy and an Ash Wednesday Liturgy, made pancakes for Shrove Tuesday and completed some great work in class around all of this.  Here are some gorgeous photos of your children during the week.....

After the Promise Ceremony

Olly putting his Lenten Promise in the tray.

We have tried to promise things we will be able to maintain for 40 days.  Here is Josh....

Varun made a Lenten Promise.

And here is Luke putting his promise in the tray ready to be burned to make the ashes for Ash Wednesday.

Part of preparing for Lent is Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday.. The word Shrove comes from shrive which means to make things right ie ask for forgiveness before the season of Lent.  This day is also known as Pancake Tuesday because it is the last opportunity to indulge before the fasting of Lent begins.  We indulged in some yummy, smiley face pancakes......
