Sharing

The kids in Room 13 are such a cool bunch.  We have got to know each other really well this year and we love spending time sharing our ideas and talking about things.  These lovely moments of sharing were captured recently in the school library.

Tinky and Emma enjoy a story together.

Elvincent and Zach sit side by side during quiet reading.

Thomas and Luke share the blue couch.

Elvincent and Zach talk about what they have found in their stories.

Planting seeds

We planted seeds for Golden  Time.  We were interested in seeing something grow, but unfortunately, nothing has yet.  We have given our seeds soil, water, sunshine and love... but nothing!  We did enjoy the planting though and we wrote great Procedures around it.   Here we are...

Working together - Sam, Tinky, Sav and Thomas.

Tilde measures out carefully and Byron oversees the process.

Everyone gets stuck in.

Josh explains what he is doing.
Thank you to Rebecca (Olly's Mum) for providing us with the seeds.  Perhaps Mrs Russell should have got her to bring her green fingers along and we might have seen something happen by now.

Hopscotch

We learned how to play hopscotch at school.  After we listened to Mrs Russell, we had a go ourselves and then wrote a procedure so that other people could learn how to play.  The writing proved pretty tricky because hopscotch is quite involved, but we had fun drawing and playing.  Here we are...

Mrs Russell showed us how.

We described what we needed to do.

We had a go.  Byron was really good at this game.

Kyle was also really talented.

Rose gave it a really good go as well.

Maths Whizz

We are running a new Online Maths programme at St Marys.  Four classes from the school have been asked take part.  Room 13 are one of the classes and the kids love it.  Each child has their own programme tailored to their needs that they can access from school or home.  There are lots of aspects to the programme and the feedback for me as their teacher is fantastic.  The children have all brought their user name and password home so they can continue their learning after school and I can see exactly what they have been doing.  You simply find the maths whizz web page and then log in.

Here are Francis and Kyle using Maths Whizz all by themselves.

Independence in Room 13.

We are developing into a lovely group of independent learners in Room 13.  We can even sign in when we get to school in the morning which is very grown up.  Thank you all for your encouragement.  The children all want to be big kids and supporting them in doing things for themselves is certainly helping.

Mathematics Evening

We will have a Mathematics evening on August 27th from 5-6 pm to give you ideas about how to help your child achieve the standard in maths.  Please return the RSVP that will come home today so I know how many take home packs to prepare.  This is an adults workshop, no kids please.
