6/8/14 Achieving fluency in reading...
Today in the Reading Club we talked about fluency. We are trying to....
*make our voice sound smooth with few errors and understand what we read.
In the Reading club, we decided we can achieve fluency by....
*staying calm when we read
*not robot reading and removing our pointing finger
*reading lots of books we already know
*practising
*having nothing in our mouth when we read
We recorded ourselves reading and think we achieved fluency.
Keep practising, the Reading Club are making superb progress!
We are the Reading Club - Savannah, Samantha, Mia, Kyle, Thomas and Byron.
We are in the Reading Club to become amazing readers. We work very hard every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 9-9:45 on our reading. We are working on:
*strategies - what to do when we are stuck
*new words - how to read them, how to spell them, how to recognise them
*fluency - making our reading sound right - good speed, interesting voice.
*accuracy - making sure our reading sounds right- we only read what is there.
*comprehension - understanding what we read - getting the idea of a story and being able to talk about it.
*Expanding our vocabulary - learning new words and using them.
5/8/14
Today we wrote some new words how we hear them. We found that some of our words had extra letters we couldn't hear and some of our words were missing letters. We worked together clapping out each sound, blending the sounds to make the words and writing ALL the sounds we could hear. WOW! we were able to write many of the words correctly the second time.
Here we are with our original lists and below are our fix ups. Clever!
